This past Sunday the moon was at it’s brightest. It was big and bright and lit the night. I used to invite my friend, Alan Boley over to watch the moon rise in my backyard. We would sit out on the patio with the Tiki torches burning and drink cold drinks while the shining moon rose above the weeping willow tree. What makes the moon so bright? It is the reflected light of the sun which lights up our night. God gave us the moon to rule the night (Genesis 1:16). It divides the day from the night and it gives us our months. It’s phases tell us what time of the month it is. Christians are like the moon. Our light is not our own. It is a reflection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We reflect His glory when the clouds of sin do not obscured our light. We go through phases but have a constant presence because of the faithfulness of our God. I am not going to make any cute references to “moonshine” since I am not a drinker of alcoholic beverages but … let your moon shine for Jesus today. His Holy Spirit is a greater source of joy than any medication could ever be. Think about it!
